Democrat PA-07 congressional candidate Bob Brooks has endorsements and a media blitz.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

As a member of the Lehigh County Democratic Club, I attended meetings where we would introduce a candidate, let them speak and then ask questions. In 2025, we talked to Bob Brooks who is running in the PA-07 congressional race to replace Republican Ryan Mackenzie. Brook resembles Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars TV show on the History Channel. Brooks held various jobs like a pizza delivery driver, dishwasher, truck driver, landscaper and baseball coach. But he has never held a local, state or federal office. His answers were scripted and seemed targeted to right-leaning male voters. He did not comment on education or data centers. He did not impress the retired teachers and women in our group.

Lehigh Valley Democratic congressional candidates tout their credentials during first televised primary debate. WFMZ Business Matters - Pennsylvania 7th U.S. House of Representatives Democratic Primary Debate: Part 1 aired April 7, 2026. The forum took place at Moravian College's Foy Concert Hall. WFMZ Business Matters - Pennsylvania 7th U.S. House of Representatives Democratic Primary Debate: Part 2 aired April 13, 2026. The forum took place at Alumnae Hall, Cedar Crest College campus at 100 College Drive, Allentown on the on Tuesday April 7th.

Brooks struggled to answer questions before returning to his talking points. Brooks was asked to explain the statement that he would ban money from political action committees in politics, yet, he has taken in more from PACs than the other three candidates. “Don’t hate the player, hate the game,” replied Brooks. Another Loophole Larry gaming the system. We have that now. That was a stupid remark. Brooks' campaign has been trying to hide the debate video but it's on the local news website. He was very unprepared but not because he's not a career politician. He is not who he claims to be.

Congressional candidate Bob Brooks apologizes after some Facebook posts on his personal page from several years ago were discovered. Those posts appeared to be contrary to positions held by his party. If you decide to run for office, clean up your house. Those posts should not have been made, but since they were, they should have been deleted. Once caught, you make a heartfelt apology and show regret. The complaining made him appear insincere.

Congressional candidate Bob Brooks faces lawsuit over property dispute and unpaid loan debt. January 2022, a judgement was entered against Brooks for the unpaid loan plus interest, according to court documents. The debt remains unpaid. Read the article about his two wives with almost identical names. Speaking of names, there is another Bob Brooks from PA who is Republican. The name game.

Congressional candidate Bob Brooks opposes congressional stock trading but owns individual stocks. Brooks Republican called out PA-08 Rep. Rob Bresnahan’s numerous stock trades. None of them should be doing it. That's why there is disclosure for transparency.

Why did prominent Democrats endorse Bob Brooks? He sounds like a Republican. They are alienating their base in the hope that others prefer him over Ryan Mackenzie if he wins the primary. I talk to people of any political affiliation and former Republicans and centrists prefer Ryan Crosswell who is also a former Republican. The progressive man-haters like Carol Obando-Derstine, and Democrats like Lamont McClure who is running on his record. Bob Brooks has to win the primary in order to compete against Ryan Mackenzie and they are spending a lot of money on ineffective ads.

Democrats are allegedly trying to reach blue collar workers. Former president Joe Biden knew how to do that. Brooks’s populist, working-class appeal continues to build a broad coalition according to the Pennsylvania Working Families Party. They said "he's the guy you want to have a beer with". I don't drink alcohol and I am voting for a representative in government. I'm friends with people who endorsed him and I'm wondering if Brooks treats men differently from women. Other women had the same impression I had. Or maybe women have different priorities.

PA House Rep. Pete Schweyer (134th), PA Senator Nick Miller (14th District), Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk, my PA House Rep. Mike Schlossberg (132nd district) door knocked for petition signatures for Bob Brooks and other primary candidates and gave endorsements. I still feel like the politicians should have waited until after the primary and endorse the winner. The PA Dems have made the news for perceived political influence and favoritism.

I personally invited candidates to the Mackenzie Monday protest and other events for petition signatures without influence. I am a member of the Upper Lehigh Democratic Club that is under the tent of the PA Dems. The ULDC said "we will let the primary play out and endorse the winner". We don't want to put the thumb on the scale. My observations and opinions are my own. I present facts and evidence used to explain my opinion and allow others to make up their own minds.

Parties need to vet candidates—before the primary ballot is printed. Apparently, no one is doing a good job of this. Or maybe since Trump, standards have dropped. Candidates who win races focus on the issues that matter to their constituents. Focus on affordability, healthcare and opposing dirty data centers if you are running in PA-07 right now.

The primary election will be in May 2026 and will be a closed primary, only open for registered Democrats.
