Governor Shapiro lost my vote and support - over Data Centers and Renewable Energy growth
Shapiro has lost my support and vote over his boosterism and acceleration of data center growth through his transformation office.
Dear Governor Shapiro -
Following up on my letter from last December.
I donated to your last campaign and voted for you in the last election cycle. Your terrible performance on data centers and renewable energy growth means that I can no longer contribute to your campaign or vote for you in November.
That could change if:
- You work with the State Representatives and Senators to implement a large AI data center moratorium or give local governments the option to implement local moratoriums. (18 months or more)
- You announce a realistic plan to move from the current renewable energy growth rate, which is third worst in the nation, to being above average within 3 years.
- Your transformation office stops expediting permits for large data centers and their supporting infrastructure. And Pennsylvania stops giving tax relief to the data center industry.
You stood with Dave McCormick and Donald Trump on the AI data center gold rush. This stance is not business friendly or job friendly. It places large hyper scale technology companies before Pennsylvanians.
It supports:
- A corrupt gold rush that will likely hurt many people financially
- Environment and quality of life degradation
- Excessive growth in fossil fuel generation and unplanned expansion of the transmission grid
There is plenty of time between now and the election for you to course correct.
