Dr. Oz was a daytime television host promoting supplements as cures. Oz has promoted hydroxychloroquine as a COVID treatment, has previously been criticized for other health recommendations, and has testified at a Senate hearing on deceptive advertising for diet supplements.
Dr. Oz decided to run for senator in PA even though he lived in a mansion in New Jersey. He happens to own mansions in Florida, Turkey and elsewhere. Oz ran against Lt. Governor John Fetterman who sadly suffered a stroke during the campaign. Five months after the stroke, the two debated. Fetterman's team called attention to the carpetbagger's faults in a memorable social media trolling. Dr. Oz did so many stupid things in a failed attempt to get PA votes.

Dr. Mehmet Oz was confirmed by the Senate on April 3, 2025, by a 53-45 vote to become the administrator for the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Like everyone else in Trump's cabinet, Oz is extremely unfit for the job by design. Trump wants people to dismantle government agencies to privatize them for profit. If you look at it from his perspective, he did pick the correct person (for his agenda).
Dr. Oz supports Medicare Advantage for All or privatized healthcare for profit. Trump Republicans voted to cut funding for traditional Medicare, Medicaid and Planned Parenthood. Most of the trans community lost insurance and the ability to continue trans healthcare. On April 2025 CMS tells states Medicaid funds cannot be used for gender-affirming care. This was catastrophic for many trans patients.
Dr. Oz was invited to speak at at the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce healthcare summit in Allentown. Trans advocacy groups asked the chamber to cancel Dr. Oz's speech. I wrote to Tony Ianelli and explained that I understood that Oz was invited because of his administrative office. And I was looking forward to protesting Dr. Oz. I already planned to protest before I knew my friends from the Eastern PA Trans Equity Project were planning to protest. I invited our Mackenzie Monday protesters to attend. I brought extra signs. Tim brought the gay pride flag.
Friday, December 5, 2025 Dr. Mehmet Oz was the featured speaker at the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce healthcare summit. The event was held at the Aster Event Center at the Hyatt Hotel at 621 Grange Rd, Allentown, PA 18106 across from the new Air Products site. (This is actually Wescosville.) Oz discussed "The CMS Vision: Affordable and Accessible Care" looking for waste, fraud and abuse by patients instead of health care providers or insurance companies.
Protesters gathered on a very cold morning in the snow to oppose his policies on transgender care and healthcare cuts. Corinne Goodwin, Robin Gow, Jacob Kelly and other members of the Eastern PA Trans Equity Project spoke. Lehigh County Controller Mark Pinsley chanted with us and even sang a song! Tony Ianelli spoke to the protesters saying he supports us. Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk attended the meeting and told us that Congressman Ryan Mackenzie and Senator Dave McCormick were there.
We waited for the meeting to end so they could see us. Oz had another meeting planned at the Geisinger Community Medical Center Professional Building in Scranton. Oz exited where Tim (the Mackenzie Monday protest organizer) was standing. Mackenzie and McCormick exited where I was standing with Mark Pinsley and the trans people. There is a special feeling you get when your politicians who try to ignore you are forced to see you.
