Dear Dave,

Thank your for your two responses of October 10.

The Republican Congress lost track of math. Since this start of this session, the Administration and Congress have been chest-jutting and belly-slapping like there is a mandate.

As you know from your very narrow election victory, there is no mandate. The tiny sliver of the Congress majority is not enough to bulldoze through things like giving the Administration unlimited pocket rescission.

You and Congress have the constitutional power of the purse. To abdicate that power to the executive branch dishonors the constitution.

Article I, Section 8, Clause 1: "The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States; . . . "

Glad you don't like shutdowns. It is a failure to do Congress's work. The buck stops where? Leadership is what?

It is disgraceful that Vought is relishing terrorizing federal workers, as do POTUS and his cabinet. It is easy to break things and more difficult to make things better.

Vought said "We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected"

Your response on Epstein is on the horns of a dilemma with DOJ and FBI saying there are no plans for additional prosecutions or investigations in progress. There remains broad concerns about the poor transparency and care for the victims.

Sincerely,

John
